final day

i awoke this morning knowing
that today’s the final day
there will be no more tomorrows
or another yesterday
this is all i have been given
so i’ll treat it as a gift
i won’t take it very serious
a moment’s beauty i won’t miss
my friends will know i love them
my family even more
i will not forget to tell them
as i exit through the door
my problems will not stress me
for they’ll vanish in the night
i will close my eyes forver
and will join the bless’ed light
but if i should be mistaken
and tomorrow i do rise
i’ll consider that my last day
and remain in paradise
