to a hard day’s work
i stare too long
the rounding curves
of what must have been
showing just enough
to make me wonder
how the heads must have turned
in times past
her curt demeanor
mixed with a still-stunning smile
makes me melancholy
and yet the fire in her eyes
tells me she believes
it was all worthwhile
